Orthopedic Foot Implant Trade Show Models
One big step for mankind
The Challenge:
It is difficult to generate excitement at a trade show with a display of very small orthopedic foot implants in a tray, especially when all the other booths have the same trays of small implants. You only get a fraction of a second to draw attention at a trade show when there is so many competing things calling for attention.
Model Design:
Pulse MDM and Flower Orthopedics planned to make 10x upscaled replicas of 5 of their implants.
Flower Orthopedic provided the geometry for the implants, Pulse MDM designed bases to hold the 10:1 replicas upright. Each base was designed to break down to completely flat so shipping the models from show to show is as economical as possible. Careful consideration was given to make sure all the parts for each of the 5 bases where easy to assemble by a person that was completely unfamiliar with the setup.
Model Development:
10x upscaled foot implants would be both heavy and costly to make in metal. Pulse MDM planned to machine the replicas in plastic and add metal plating before tinting them the final color. The implants look like metal for the best replication of the actual device, without the cost or weight.
Model Solution:
For the medical device client, the upscaled implants draw the eye & grab attention in a busy trade show environment bringing more physicians into the booth, facilitating more conversations about the merits of the flower Implants over the competitor’s solutions.
For the physicians, the upscaled implants allow small detailed to be easily seen and create a memorable physical experience.
The upscaled implant allows physicians to see the crowning innovation of Flower Orthopedics, the “flowergroove”. Locking threads engage the “petals” of the locking hole. The patented design allows for repositioning of the screw up to three times in the same hole and eliminates the cross-threading potential. The locking mechanism ensures secure fixation in all directions within a ±15° range. The salespeople at Flower Ortho can easily demonstrate how the screws sit flush with the plate, at 15°, this is something easily seen at 1:1 scale.
Although this custom model is not available for sale to the public, we are delighted to make you a version that is specific to your unique medical device and procedure. Please use this link to start the process of receiving a model concept; a visual representation of how clinicians and patients will experience your product and procedure. Pulse MDM does not charge for model concepts or the conversations around them so there is no risk to see how we can help you to tell your story in the most engaging and memorable way possible.
